Meriem Bennani was born in Rabat, Morocco and lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. Juxtaposing and mixing the language of reality TV, documentaries, phone footage, animation, and high-production aesthetics, she explores storytelling while amplifying reality through magical realism and humor in film, sculpture, and installation. Bennani’s work has been shown at Whitney Biennial, New York; MoMA PS1, New York; Art Dubai; Fondation Louis Vuitton, Paris; Public Art Fund, New York; CLEARING, New York; and The Kitchen, New York. Her animated series, 2 Lizards in collaboration with director Orian Barki, premiered on Instagram in 2020.
