Li Shuang was born in the Wuyi Mountains, China and received her MA in media studies from New York University in 2014 and lives in Berlin and Geneva. Situated in globalized communication systems and inspired by various localities and uneven information flows, Li’s performances, interactive websites, sculptures, and moving-image installations study the mediums of the contemporary digital landscape and their interaction among each other and with users. Diverse forms of intimacy are a motif throughout her exploration of how the technology that connects us is also a neoliberal apparatus that regulates the body. Li has had solo shows at Peres Projects, Berlin; Cherish, Geneva; Callie's, Berlin; and Open Forum, Berlin. She has also shown at venues including Tai Kwun Contemporary, Hong Kong; Para Site, Hong Kong; Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève; Times Museum, Guangzhou; and 59th Venice Biennale.
