Jim Thompson Art Center is situated in the same compound as Jim Thompson House Museum. Recently opened to allow for more space and facilities, it serves as an exhibition venue, café, and library fostering a space of dialogue within the cultural community. The institution does not contain a collection but hosts guest-curated exhibitions along with events, seminars, lectures, and workshops. Named after James H.W. Thompson, an American businessman, ex-army officer, and ex-spy known for his opening up of the Thai Silk market during the Cold War, the foundation aims to nurture artistic activities and create public awareness of both contemporary and traditional arts within today’s context.
